Terms of Use

The terms that apply when you use melawlawyers.com, including why its content is general information rather than legal advice.

Last updated: September 2026

These terms govern your use of melawlawyers.com (the "site"), operated by ME Law Professional Corporation ("ME Law", "we", "us"). By using the site, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

General information, not legal advice

The content of this site — including articles, guides, case summaries and FAQs — is general information about the law. It is not legal advice and should not be relied on as such. The law changes, and how it applies depends on the facts of each matter. Please consult a lawyer about your situation before acting on anything you read here.

No lawyer–client relationship

Reading this site, submitting the consultation form, or sending us email or other information does not create a lawyer–client relationship. We act for you only once we have completed a conflict check and agreed in writing to represent you, usually in a signed retainer agreement.

Confidentiality

We cannot guarantee the confidentiality of communications sent by email, through this site's forms or by voicemail. Until we have confirmed that we can act for you, please do not send confidential or privileged information: information sent to us before then may not be treated as confidential, and sending it does not prevent us from acting for another party in the matter.

Past results

Descriptions of past matters and results illustrate the kind of work we do. They do not guarantee or predict the outcome of any other matter; every matter turns on its own facts.

Accuracy

We work to keep the content accurate, but we do not guarantee that it is complete, accurate or current.

Intellectual property

The site and its content — text, photographs, video, graphics, logos and software — belong to ME Law or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. You may view and print pages for your personal, non-commercial use and share links to them. Any other reproduction, distribution, modification or republication, and any use of the ME Law name or logo, requires our prior written consent.

Linking to this site

You are welcome to link to any page of this site, provided the link is not misleading, does not suggest that we endorse you or your website, and does not appear on a website with unlawful or defamatory content. Please do not frame or embed the site's content on another website.

Links to other websites

For your convenience, this site links to websites we do not control, such as courts, legislation and publishers. We are not responsible for their content, and a link is not an endorsement.

Availability

We do not warrant that the site will be available without interruption, free of errors, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

Limitation of liability

The site and its content are provided "as is", without representations or warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, ME Law and its owners, directors, officers, lawyers, employees and agents are not liable for any damages — including direct, indirect, special or consequential damages — arising from the use of the site or reliance on its content.

Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use and protect personal information.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, and the courts of Ontario have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute about them.

Changes

We may change these terms by posting a new version on this page. The version in effect is the one posted when you use the site.
